Who cares about AOC or IGP when you have VDF? Vin De France puts the "class" in classification and that's all you need to know. But if you want to know more, here's a quick explanation:
Vin de France is a designation used in French wine classification. It replaced the former Vin de Table category in 2009 as part of the European Union's wine reforms.
Essentially, Vin de France indicates wine that is produced in France but doesn't fall under any of the country's more specific geographical indications or quality classifications, such as AOC (Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée) or IGP (Indication Géographique Protégée).
This designation allows winemakers more flexibility in terms of grape varieties, blending, and winemaking techniques. It's often used for wines made from grapes grown in non-traditional regions or for innovative winemaking approaches.
